Modern House Introduction|A Fluid Site for Generative Artistic Practices
Modern House is an artist collective dedicated to breaking away from established creative frameworks and exploring open-ended, generative artistic practices. The collective operates with an emphasis on flexibility and spontaneity, allowing each project to emerge through nonlinear thought processes and loosely structured discussions. These conversations function not merely as decision-making mechanisms but as experimental spaces for speculation, where absurd and impractical "what if" questions become catalysts for creative exploration.
Our gatherings, known as "Sunday Family Gatherings," foster an intimate yet open-ended dialogue, where artists engage in free-form exchanges of ideas and respond to each other’s inquiries in real time. Beyond individual artistic practice, these projects seek to reframe the relationships between art and space, objects and their environments, while challenging the boundaries between public and private realms.
Rather than establishing a singular narrative, Modern House continuously cultivates a fluid and adaptable artistic practice through an open participatory framework. This approach not only deconstructs conventional creative methods but also reconsiders how art operates within social relationships and immediate surroundings.

At the end of 2024, Modern House – Ultra Light was an exhibition held at the rented home of Lin Anpeng by the four artists of Modern House: Lin Anpeng, Yellow Dotdot (Button), Ku Chengyang, and Wang Ruxuan. The exhibition was prompted by Anpeng’s imminent move from the space, and the four artists sought to leave traces of their presence through a hybrid approach of collective and individual creation.
The theme Ultra Light draws inspiration from the concept of lightweight mountaineering gear, extending this idea into an artistic context. In mountaineering, lightweight equipment is essential for reaching the summit, requiring a deep understanding of one’s needs—how much food, what gear, every little detail matters. We asked ourselves: what would an exhibition look like if everything—our interventions in the space, budget, materials, and concepts—were approached with the same principle of lightness?
The exhibition was divided into two main parts: individual works by the artists and a selection of furniture chosen through a group vote. These selected objects were then altered with the artist’s touch. A touch here refers to an action—a moment of transformation. We aimed to capture the sparks of different perspectives, the interplay of influences, collisions, and the emergence of new ideas. The exhibition was in a continuous state of growth and transformation, yet one thing remained constant: the intimate and fluid relationship between our daily lives and our works within this home.
For every exhibition, Modern House creates a token. This time, the token was a key to the home—also serving as an invitation to the exhibition. Made from 3D-printed aluminum alloy, these keys were sent to our invited guests, allowing them to "break in" and view the exhibition at any time of their choosing.

ARTIST
Lin An Peng
Lin an peng, born in 1994 in the United States, currently resides in Taipei, Taiwan. In his artistic practice, Lin places a strong emphasis on transforming abstract concepts and ideas into physical objects, serving as a connection between individuals. He delves into the contradictor y nature of subject-object relationships, specifically their mutually influential and constantly exchanging states.
Lin explores various perspectives on objects in consumption that shape our daily lives through his recent work, encompassing elements such as the remnants left behind after consumption, the delicate and rapid beauty inherent in these objects, and their diverse identities in our lives.
Ku Cheng Yang
CHENG-YANG KU, born in 1995, is a Taiwanese artist specializing in sculpture, installations, and performance art. His research focuses on “wearable sculpture” - the interaction between sculpture and the human body, recognizing how people are constantly influenced and shaped by things they come into contact with. He often approaches contemporary daily life and behavioral habits from the perspective of an observer and incorporates them into his creative work. Using various materials, he intervenes in the characteristics of modern society, subsequently reconstructing language and concepts conceptually
Wang Ru Xuan
Wang Ru Xuan born in Taoyuan in 1994, graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts. Let's all be practical, and desire the impossible. One has to create something, then you can put yourself into it and live, and we live in each other.
Yellow Dot Dot
Yellow Dot Dot’/ Blue Button’s work is concerned with art and literature and their common poetic (perceptual) state. He is concerned with the way things are seen and talked about, and the difference between daily life and creation. He deals with the relationship between space and its contents using any material, such as objects, images, notes, words, light, and projections.
Yellow Dot Dot deploys the ratio of abstract concepts to real objects to deconstruct how an "exhibition space" is constructed. Each exhibition is considered as a whole piece of work, and his real work is: "the methods (and conditions) that constitute the work”.
