The core value of socialism
This is about my experience of coming to Beijing from Taiwan.I found myself surrounded by an abundance of political slogans. Like advertisements, they convey a certain message through a strong visual language. Yet, in the routines of daily life, over time, they tend to blur and fade from memory. This led me to question whether these slogans truly influence people, or if they function more like background noise—occupying space in our visual field without leaving a lasting impact. Are they, like advertisements, subtly shaping our thoughts on a subconscious level?
I decided to strip these slogans of their linguistic content, preserving only their form and color.
By transforming the text into symbolic color blocks and presenting them as illuminated signboards, I sought to shift these slogans from direct, imperative statements into pure visual experiences. When stripped of their semantic meaning, they invite viewers to engage with them on an intuitive level, prompting reflection on the relationship between these visual symbols and their own lived experiences. Through this process of translation, I aim to blur the boundaries between politics and advertising, between control and influence.

當我從台灣來到北京，沿途被大量的政治標語包圍。它們像廣告一樣，以強烈的視覺語言傳遞某種信息，但在這生活的日常，時間長了卻往往變得模糊、難以記憶。這讓我開始思考，這些標語是否真的能影響人，還是像背景噪音一樣，只是佔據了視野？它們是否像廣告一樣，在潛意識裡塑造我們的思維？
我決定將這些標語從語言的層面剝離，只保留它們的形式和色彩，把文字轉化為符號化的色塊，並以廣告燈牌的方式呈現。在這個過程中，我希望讓標語從一種直接的指令性話語，變成純粹的視覺經驗。當它們失去語意但應印象去思考，進而意識到這些視覺符號與自身經驗之間的關聯。我試圖在這種轉譯的過程中，模糊政治與廣告、控制與影響之間的界線。
